2018 "El Bobo" Bennett Valley Grenache

Description:
This is a full-bodied Grenache, with well-integrated oak and soft tannins. Creating a muscular, but balanced wine with a spicy profile of dark berries, plums, nutmeg, and slight hints of white pepper and garrigue. It has an expansive mouthfeel, combined with an opulent mid palette and a long, satisfying finish

Vineyard:
The Jemrose Vineyard sits at the base of Bennett Peak, in the cool Bennett Valley AVA, of Sonoma County. The soils are a mixture of weathered speckles of rocky, clay loam and red, iron rich volcanic soil. The Grenache is from an Alban Clone in a hilltop block on the top of Cardiac hill, where it receives great sun exposure. Although the site rarely yields much fruit, the results are bright, concentrated flavors.

Chemistry:
pH: 3.82
TA: 6.0
Alc: 14.7%
RS: 0.01

Fermentation and aging:
The de-stemmed grapes were cold soak for 15 days prior to fermentation. Using only native yeasts and only performing manual punch downs to the cap. The wine was in tanks for 15 days and then transferred to French oak barrels. With Malolactic fermentation occurring in the barrels, the wine was barrel aged for 15 months and then racked before bottling, as with all our reds, the Grenache was not fined or filtered.
