Since 2014, Patrick Sullivan has been with A. Torano Wines. His extensive Sonoma and Napa Valley background includes working with Paul Hobbs, Lewis Cellars, and Peter Michael. He has also served as winemaker for Spring Mountain. All of these wine experiences gave him a broad spectrum of experiences, for working with our terroir and the varietals we are producing.
One of Patrick’s greatest strengths is his ability to work hand-in-hand with all the different vineyard management teams. This assures our fruit is always well developed and picked by its taste and ripeness, rather than by sugar content.
His core strength is to take our ideas and turn them into a bottle of wine, which often exceeds our expectations. This genuinely makes our wines an artisanal effort, where the art often exceeds science.
Patrick’s philosophies match the winery’s philosophy of less is more. “We start with really great grapes, do the right thing in the vineyard, and pay very close attention during the growing season. Then, when the time comes for the fruit to get to the winery, there’s very little that we have to do. There’s not a lot of intervention needed to make great wine.”
